From brief to finished film.

How we documented a week of workshops ending in a live comedy night.

01 · The brief

Show what comedy can do

The Legion wanted to capture a pilot course that tested the power of comedy to improve mental health, wellbeing and self-confidence, and to show it through the people taking part.

03 · The outcome

Honest, funny and moving

A 10 min 39 sec documentary that moves from nerves in the workshop to applause in the comedy club, with participants talking openly about why they came and what they took away. Shared across online, digital and social channels.

02 · Our approach

A fly-on-the-wall week

We followed the group through the week, from getting-to-know-you exercises and writing sessions to rehearsals and the night itself, with sit-down interviews with participants, the course leader and the Legion’s team.
