How we explained robotic lung surgery to patients.

01 · The brief

Help patients understand their options

The Foundation wanted a film that helped people with lung cancer understand robotic-assisted surgery and feel confident asking their team about it.

03 · The outcome

Clear, trusted patient information

A 4 min 16 sec film that explains a complex procedure in plain language, from a clinician patients can trust. Shared across online, digital and social channels.

02 · Our approach

A surgeon, the system and simple questions

We filmed the surgeon beside the robotic system and structured the film around the questions patients ask, with close-ups of the console, the instruments and the robotic arms at work.

In the film

“It means that patients can get back up on their feet much quicker. So it means less time in hospital, quicker recovery back to normal. And I think that’s what matters to patients.”

Stephanie Fraser, lung surgeon, Guy’s Hospital

In the film

“The robotic system doesn’t replace a surgeon, but it’s an adjunct and it still needs to be part of a holistic approach to how we manage patients.”
